It's not very exciting, but it is finished. This is a basic linen chemise. I actually did not have a chemise appropriate for my medieval period dress and I've been wearing it without one (!). It is entirely hand sewn using linen thread with French seams.
Nice! The right "undies" make such a difference.
ReplyDeleteI admit to not "backreading", because my dialup is sooo slow - what'e your usual time?
Neat! This is exactly what I need to make as well. It's all these non-interesting projects that seem to be the hardest to get started with, however necessary they may be.
ReplyDeleteLiadain - "what's my usual time?" not sure what you mean by that. If you mean about posting, that is random. If you mean about my internet connection, I have a cable modem so it is pretty fast. I try to keep my picture size to about 200k so they are a bit easier to download but I'm really not sure how long that takes on dialup since I gave up dialup 8 or more years ago. If I'm not answering your question let me know and I'll be happy to respond.
ReplyDeleteElina - too right! Yet I'm so glad to have this done. I felt wrong every time I wore my dress w/o a chemise!
Sorry - I meant what's your usual SCA "period"? I think I wasn't thnking in English yesterday... :-)
ReplyDeleteI don't have one dedicated period, but my fancy dress is 1530s-ish and my outdoor event outfit is 1300s. Most of my embroidery interest are 1300s and 1400s so that's where I am gravitating.
ReplyDeleteVery nice. The chemise is definately an important part of the dress but so often forgotten.
